Petrol Engine v/s Diesel Engine

Image
Today in this article, we are going to discuss the major points of differences between, a petrol engine and a diesel engine, and their characteristics which make them suited for different purposes. Before discussing the differences between the construction of the two engines, let's begin with differentiating the fuel driving them. Petrol Petrol is a highly volatile fuel consisting mostly of the organic compounds, which is the end result of fractional distillation of petroleum. It is blended with additives, so as to enhance the quality of the fuel and increasing its performance characteristics, anti-corrosive nature, chemical stability, and also acts as a cleaning agent that keeps the fuel system clean and in good health. Petrol and air mixture inside the engine, requires an agent to ignite itself, that is, a "spark". Petrol may contain oxygen compounds, like Ethanol, to increase its combustibility. Petrol is also offered in various grades, usually called Octanes, which de...

If you too are a 90's kid, then surely you had come across weird looking cars in movies, especially in Hollywood action movies where cars played a major role. These weird looking cars preserved their charm till date, and still, they make human minds intoxicated with their design language, making them amongst the valuable things ever made. Coming up is the list of such weird looking and exhilarating cars, that are popular for their bizarreness. Peel P50 Peel P50 was in production between 1962 and 1965, a production of Peel Engineering Company, having featured in the World's smallest car ever made by 2010 Guinness World Record Book. In a modern day car, we are provided with a reverse gear, but what brings charm to this micro-car is, this car doesn't have a reverse gear. Instead a handle is provided at rear, to have a manual control on this light weighted vehicle in tricky situations. This car was light enough, that one can grab its handle and take it away with him, assuming i...

Mahindra Thar                                                        First Impressions Mahindra had always been sporting its legacy of building tough off roaders, the one which tops the chart is the Mahindra Thar, a descendent of one of the popular off-roaders of the time "Mahindra Classic". Thar has maintained its pedigree of being a fierce off-roader by outnumbering everything that comes in its way ahead, no terrain could challenge the capabilities of the off-roader. It always meant some serious business. But, still it underwent few minor tweaks to cope up with the progressing industry standards.  Mahindra Classic Technicals It came up with an independent suspension set-up at the front, semi-elliptical leaf spring with shock absorbers at the rear, and a power assisted steering set-up, which made off-roading, a peanut affair.  Still Thar ...

While company acknowledges its product as a "Premium Crossover" rather than an "SUV". S-Cross 2015 was in every aspect different from its competitors in the segment-  Hyundai Creta ,  Nissan Terrano ,  Renault Duster , and  Ford EcoSport . Unlike, bold and muscular stance which its competitors flaunted,  S-Cross  clearly resembled a large hatchback, having rounded edges and a drooping front end, thus validating the "hatchback on steroids" proposition. Amongst the many factors which disqualified it from the league o...

The Future Of Electric Vehicles in India.

Image
EVs (Electric Vehicles) the future of India, or a nightmare in disguise. Let’s begin with the advantages of stepping in of EV’s into the country. The first one being, it would not be using any fossil fuel to power itself, instead using electric power to power its drivetrain, thus reducing the usage of fossil fuels, which might alternately be used for some other useful purpose. Consequently, electric vehicles would cut off air and sound pollution at great levels. EV’s would also reduce the cost of travel per kilometers, at a considerable level, thus reducing the fares of the EV’s employed at commercial levels, like, in heavy transporting facility, including mono rails, buses, electric trucks. Electric motor powering the EV delivers constant torque and power to the vehicle which aids the vehicles performance from the very beginning, unlike the conventional motor where the peak torque and power kicks in at a certain level of RPMs. Moreover, the working parts that run an EV’s would con...
