Bizarre looking cars of all time, ever made. (Part 1)
If you too are a 90's kid, then surely you had come across weird looking cars in movies, especially in Hollywood action movies where cars played a major role. These weird looking cars preserved their charm till date, and still, they make human minds intoxicated with their design language, making them amongst the valuable things ever made. Coming up is the list of such weird looking and exhilarating cars, that are popular for their bizarreness.
Peel P50
Peel P50 was in production between 1962 and 1965, a production of Peel Engineering Company, having featured in the World's smallest car ever made by 2010 Guinness World Record Book. In a modern day car, we are provided with a reverse gear, but what brings charm to this micro-car is, this car doesn't have a reverse gear. Instead a handle is provided at rear, to have a manual control on this light weighted vehicle in tricky situations. This car was light enough, that one can grab its handle and take it away with him, assuming it to be a bigger-in-size trolley bag. If you haven't watched the day to day life adventures of the vehicle, I do suggest to watch Jeremy Clarkson's review on Peel P50, that would surely make your day. Peel P50 was, and still a road legal micro-car in UK, and US, being in the three-wheeler category weighing less than 900 lbs. or 410 Kgs, having an engine capacity of 50cc, with engine making space on its side, driving rear wheels. Being a vehicle under 50cc category and with a top speed of 45Km/hr., it is categorised under EU's Quadricycle, in Netherlands.
Peel P50TASCOA unique creation of an American automobile designer, Gordon Buehrig, the prototype could not make it to a production car, because by far it was most expensive to bring the car into production, being $7500 for that time, which costs nearly $80000 of today, taking inflation into consideration, thus rendering it a single running prototype. Its design language was inspired by airplanes, having tonnes of elements in dash board and controls of the vehicle, which would remind of an airplane cockpit, every time one sits in it. The Tasco was not pleasant looking, in its aesthetics, which was well acknowledged by Gordon and he named it "My Edsel" meaning "Noble". 1948 Tasco at Mac's Motor City Garage. |
